A simple way to generate case-sensitive passwords with PHP is to have a string with possible letters and then pick up random letter from it, you can try a script I made here and see the source here

For IRC server you only need a software that acts as a server - it's quite recommend to have a machine running it 24/7 and maybe a domain too.
There are many IRCd's (IRCd = an application that acts as IRC server) that you can use for free. One good IRCd is UnrealIRCd (That irc.somethief.net is using, too), you can get it from UnrealIRCd downloads page for free. For configuring UNREALIRCd you should read this (Prefer it for other questions too).
Also you might want some services, eg. ChanServ NickServ or X and so on. Read about these from Wikipedia

Denial Of Service -attack, is it DDOS or DOS ?

It seems people dont know the difference of these terms, they dont mean the same thing.
- DOS ( Denial Of Service ) attack is the older way of disturbing internet services, in DOS only one (or couple) machines try to prevent service from working normally
- DDOS ( Distributed Denial Of Service ) is the more modern way, hundreds or thousends of machines (a botnet) are spamming the victim with ICMP ECHO (the simple PING promts) or other packets, eg. downloading big images from the http server.
Most of recent DOS attacks are made with botnets so they are DDOS attacks, mind the first D.

Updates in mail system + Thunderbird addons

My DNS records now specify an SPF field so mail servers know that spam sent by me is actually from my server.
I also got some nice Thunderbird security addons:
1. Sender Verification Extension
This addon looks up the SPF data to prevent plishing, if mail says its from somethief.net, this addon request SPF data from my DNS records, if the sending machine doen't match to the ones listed in SPF the mail is very probably fake.

2. Enigmail + GnuPG
This addon and GnuPG application supporting it will provide you an utility to check the PGP signatures and crypt + decrypt messages. It needs some tweaking if you want to send signed or crypted mail, will take an entry for it sometime.

Saturday - School, networking issue, spam @ the blog

Lets start from the networking issue, we were unreachable for 1½hours but fortunanely during low-traffic hours (15:05:30 - 16:37:12 GMT +3), all services are back online again (Bouncers didnt reconnect perfectly, if your doesnt join chans type: /msg -sbnc jump).
So thats it, also i fixed an image code verify system for the blog as 3 messages passed my earlier spam filter. Get lost spam!
